On this site, I share my more personal insights and impressions on developments in the church at large, as well as the occasional recollection from my Christian life.

I became a disciple of Jesus in 1971, having heard his gospel for the first time at a small home fellowship south of the city of Seattle. Within a few months, I joined an independent Pentecostal church, eventually attending Bible college for several years.

In the years since, I have used my free time to study the Bible further on my own, especially in the subjects of eschatology, the transmission of biblical texts, and the Christian hope at the end of the age.

What I have learned is to respect the text as it was originally written. The interpretive process must begin with what the author composed to meet specific needs in a real-life situation.

Over the years, I have witnessed many changes in the church, especially in North America, some quite profound and positive; unfortunately, some changes are rather disturbing. For better or worse, the Charismatic Movement is no longer what it once was.
